Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for the Lord allowing life lessons. While going through these difficult times I'm not always "so thankful" though. There have been times in my life that I've cried out in anger - not understanding how a GOOD GOD could allow such BAD things. Its only after many years that I realize the bad things in this world are exactly that..... The bad things IN THIS WORLD... We live in a fallen world full of sin.

Heb 12:5-8 (NIV) "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son." Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.

As I think on the lessons he has allowed in my own life I think back of the lessons I tried to teach my children and how bad it hurt me to have to spank or scold them. How much more does our heavenly Father hurt when he has to discipline us?

Thanking him for loving US FIRST!

Hugs,
Holly

  2. I can't tell you how many times I had to discipline my children and I just couldn't bear it. I dreaded it...And yet telling myself if I didn't, I was doing them such an injustice. And it is soo true of our Father as well. He loves us, and so He does. This was great. Have a good day.

  3. Beautiful

There have been times in my life that I've cried out in anger - not understanding how a GOOD GOD could allow such BAD things.,,yes, been there, done that..I still remember a few years back on Boxing Day (dec 26, canadian holiday) screaming at the top of my lungs in the bathroom to God..'this is the best you have for me?'..than rushing back to my bedroom and falling on my knees by the bed sobbing out to Him....

  4. So very true. It hurt so much for me to discipline my kids. They are teenagers now and my daughter thanked me recently for spanking when she was younger. It was unexpected but she said that she could tell the difference in classmates that weren't disciplined at home. God bless you Holly!!

  7. He has used the hardest times in my life to teach me the most. Though I hated it at the time, I would not change anything because I am a better person because of it. :)
