In David’s psalm of repentance, Psalm 51:10-13, he says,

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You.

This is my prayer this morning. Begin in me Lord. Cleanse my heart and restore my Joy IN YOU!

Elton Trueblood, a Quaker scholar wrote that “Evangelism occurs when Christians are so ignited by their contact with Christ that they in turn set other fires. It is easy to determine when something is aflame. It ignites other material. Any fire that does not spread will eventually go out.”

I never want to burn out or fizzle to the point that I stop GOING and SPREADING, DO YOU?

Today I challenge each of you to seek the Lord with all of your heart in order to reach those hearts that are lost and without Christ.

  1. HUGE AMEN Holly! I don't want be a smoldering fire . . .I want to be a bonfire that draws people for miles!

  2. AMEN!! May we live our lives shining for HIM!!

  3. All I can say is "Amen!" Thank you so much for this wonderful challenge!! Right on target!

  4. I came here after seeing the title of your blog on the sidebar or Tammi's blog. Your post today touched my heart. THe prayer of David you quoted (from Psalm 51) has always been one of my favorites "Restore to me the joy of your salvation..." IN truth, this is the prayer of my heart these days.

The quote from Elton Trueblood struck my heart as well.

I am so grateful that I glanced at Tammi's sidebar and clicked on your blog title. So early in the morning where I live, reading words written by someone on the other side of the globe... and yet the Spirit makes these words come alive for me right here without you even knowing what is happening - isn't that Awe inspiring?

I just wanted to let you know. Thank you very much.

  5. I love the quote. Reminds me of the church in Ephesus being warned that if they did not return to their first love their lampstand could cease to exist.
Thanks for these words....beeen preading through your post and enjoying them

  6. Hi Holly, when I saw the title I had to come too. Thanks, and yes, its true we must start a fire in others as to letting our light shine among others to see our Lord. Over the weekend, my sisters and I started a fire in each others, so now we can shine a little more, and others can see that fire; and, we can stand on God's Word. I am so grateful for that fire. Thanks Holly for sharing this. God bless you. See you on the list.

  7. This encourages me so much!
